Set of Six Midcentury Dining Chairs by Andrew J Milne, for Heals London
An exquisite set of six vintage rosewood dining chairs. Designed by Andrew (Drew) John Milne for Heals, 1947. Manufactured by Mines and West UK, High Wycombe, England. Fully refinished and reupholstered in Bute Tiree wool fabric. A highlight of British post-war design, these elegant and sculptural chairs were originally retailed by Heals of London and regarded as the pinnacle of A J. Milne’s designs, and indeed British design of this period. A highly regarded designer who probably best known for his perforated sheet steel armchair, created for the festival of Britain in 1951. A good example is held at the V & A Museum, London. The chairs demonstrate superb craftsmanship and the skills of the traditional High Wycombe chair maker. The chairs are comfortable and provide good back support, suitable for dining, desk chairs or occasional chairs. Would suit a contemporary or traditional interior. Dimensions: H 90 cm x W 56 cm x D 54 cm. Seat height 46 cm.
