Victorian Ebonized and Painted Marble-Topped Washstand

A delightful ebonized Victorian washstand. Having a marble top with pediment back and swept sides. The marble having a cutaway hole which would have once housed a wash bowl. The base having fitted drawers to either side and standing on large circular legs joined by a serpentine stretcher. The whole piece being ebonized and decorated with the most beautifully executed, hand-painted decoration, featuring flowers and berries. The voluptuous shaped base has been nicely highlighted with a gilt painted trim. The rear caster wheels have long been lost but she stands square and strong. The castors could easily be removed. This would make a great addition to a cloakroom or ensuite bathroom. Just needs a suitable bowl with wall-mounted tap. Could also be used as a console table, side table, hall table or kitchen table. One of the prettiest pieces I’ve seen this year! Dimensions: H 88 cm x W 92 cm x D 50 cm
