Description
An impressive and unusual Continental Gothic Revival Bronze Lantern, standing approximately one metre tall, excluding its length of suspension chain and rose.
The striking architectural design features a steeply pitched, overlapping scale-patterned roof, surmounted by a castellated crown with six decorative turrets. Elaborate scrolling foliate mounts embellish the upper and lower corners, while the lantern terminates in a large, finely detailed finial incorporating ecclesiastical trefoil piercings and a scale-carved terminal.
The lantern is glazed throughout with bevelled glass and fitted with an opening door secured by an attractive ring catch, allowing easy access to the interior, which accommodates three screw-fitting bulbs.
A particularly decorative and substantial piece of Continental lighting, combining Gothic architectural influences with an unusual level of detail.
Equally suited to a grand entrance hall, stairwell or double-height interior.

Height: Approximately 100 cm (excluding chain)
Main body width: 40 cm
