A highly decorative pair of Chinese red leather trunks dating to the first quarter of the C20th. Each richly decorated with auspicious symbols in gilt highlight, the bats and shou characters believed to bring good fortune and longevity. Each trunk has brass carrying handles fitted to the sides and sits on a painted wooden stand with cabriole legs and pad feet in a Georgian style. In good condition for their age and both trunks have a rich colour and sheen. Could be used as lamp tables, bedside cabinets but where ever you place them they will definitely be a real statement piece.
