Margaret Benoit is a highly regarded and celebrated West Australian artist, Margaret Benoit’s work frequently depicts men and women engaged in pastoral work or doing simple tasks. She was born in Sydney in 1941 where she lived for thirty years before spending several years overseas. On her return she settled in Swan Valley which saw the start of her vineyard paintings. Her first award was back in 1956 when she won the ‘Sun Herald’ Art Prize. Since then she has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, and has won a number of awards.
