Description
An elegant bentwood hall stand, believed to be Thonet’s No. 10905 model, dating from the early 1900s. Executed in a particularly attractive honey-coloured finish, it is lighter than the more commonly encountered dark stained examples and has developed a lovely warm patina over the years.
The wonderfully flowing bentwood frame is unmistakably Thonet in character, with sweeping organic lines, a central mirror, multiple coat hooks and a useful glove drawer beneath the rail. Although generous in function, it is slightly more compact than many bentwood hall stands of the period, making it an excellent choice where space is at a premium.
As practical today as it was over a century ago, it provides ample hanging space while retaining the light, elegant appearance that has made Thonet’s bentwood furniture so enduringly popular.
