Japanese Meiji Period Gilded & Lacquered Cabinet Adorned with Eagles/Butterflies
A beautiful Japanese lacquer table cabinet which dates from the Meiji period, circa 1890. The cabinet is black lacquer with gilding and is exquisitely hand decorated with birds, butterflies and blossoms. The panelled doors with attractive engraved copper mounts and decorated with a pair of perched eagles with the a large single drawer beneath. The fitted interior having one long drawer to the top with four shorter drawers below. Again the interior is beautifully decorated with butterflies in flight. The top, sides and back panel are all decorated with foliage and blossoms. All four corners with cut and engraved mounts. One of the nicest example we have seen in a long time. Would suit a modern or traditional interior.
